On a chilly Ohio night in December 2024, this verse from scripture emerged in a conversation between the Broderick and Luehrs families about our calling to honor the Lord with our land.
God has bent low to be near us.
He is the branch that bends.
As individuals and families, we seek to bend our lives toward Jesus, bowing before our King. Branches represent new growth and restoration. Willow branches are flexible and can be woven together to create something beautiful and new. Like these branches, we believe our lives can be interwoven to reflect God's design.
This farm venture is still young, but like a shoot growing into a strong branch, we trust the Lord will exceed our hopes and dreams. We envision this land as a place where heaven touches earth, where the natural rhythms of farming speak of God's redemption and renewal.
We are a family farm committed to living on the land and nurturing a community of "bending branches," people who bend their lives toward Jesus. We seek to cultivate flexibility, fortitude, and resilience in both the land and our lives together, reflecting the redeemed creation God desires.
Through stewardship, we cultivate the land with regenerative practices that honor creation's design. We believe this land doesn't belong to us. We are merely its caretakers for a season, seeking to leave the soil healthier than we found it.
Through community, we foster meaningful connections where relationships can take root and flourish. In an age of isolation, we're reclaiming the ancient wisdom of shared living, from harvest gatherings to fireside conversations.
Through creativity, we express our worship through craftsmanship and beauty as image-bearers of the Creator. Whether through handcrafted goods or thoughtfully designed spaces, we celebrate the creative impulse as divine reflection.
Through hospitality, we embrace the countercultural practice of radical welcome. In a world that builds walls, we set extra places at our table, believing that every shared meal is a foretaste of the great banquet to come in God's fully restored creation.
Our goal is to farm the land God has entrusted to us, using all our resources to bring restoration and build resilience and sustainability in partnership with Jesus, "The Branch." We're growing something beautiful here, slowly, faithfully, and with great expectation.
